Lucien Albrecht Crémant d'Alsace was one of the first wines to prove Alsace could do sparkling as seriously as Champagne, made in the traditional method by a producer who helped pioneer the whole category back in 1971. Built from 100% Pinot Blanc, it shows fine, persistent bubbles and a nose of fresh apple, peach and apricot, with a touch of creaminess on the finish. Proper method, modest price: smart buying for something with this much polish.

What the winery says

Made by Lucien Albrecht in Alsace from 100% Pinot Blanc, this Crémant is produced using the traditional method, with a secondary fermentation in bottle that builds its fine, persistent mousse. It shows a pale yellow colour with floral, fruity aromas of apple, peach and apricot, developing into a fruity, lively palate with good maturity. Best served well chilled, it's an easy match for canapés, pan-seared scallops or as a celebratory aperitif on its own.

What the experts say

Decanter, 92/100
"Clean, light but aromatic nose - lemon, grapefruit, with a slight yeasty character. Vigorous ripe fruit flavours mingle within a gently creamy texture, balanced by crisp acidity and fine bubbles on the long, citrusy finish."
