Bostock Vicki's Vineyard Syrah is an elegant, single-vineyard Hawke's Bay Syrah from the Bridge Pa Triangle, made in tribute to the late Vicki Bostock. It favours fragrance, freshness and fine structure over sheer weight, bringing together cool-climate perfume with ripe fruit and carefully judged French oak. The 2019 vintage has the concentration to reward cellaring but is already beautifully composed and expressive. Pair it with roast lamb, venison, duck, grilled mushrooms or other richly flavoured savoury dishes.
What the winery says:
Violet, freshly ground pepper, plum and berry aromas lead into an elegant palate with mixed spice, fresh herbs and a distinctive chalky texture. The fruit was hand harvested and cooled overnight, with 10% retained as whole bunches and the remainder destemmed into small open-top fermenters. Following natural fermentation and 15 to 20 days on skins, the wine matured for 18 months in French oak barriques, including 42% new oak.
