Red Knot
Red Knot comes from Shingleback, founded in the 1990s by brothers Kym and John Davey on land their family had farmed since 1957 in McLaren Vale. Kym brought five generations of hands-on farming knowledge to the venture, while John supplied the winemaking qualifications, and together they planted the 121-hectare Davey Estate Vineyard in 1995, naming it after their maternal grandfather, before releasing their first commercial vintage, a Shiraz, in 1998.
That inaugural release set the tone for what followed, and by 2006 Shingleback had won Australia's most prestigious wine prize, the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. Red Knot carries that same McLaren Vale fruit into an approachable, everyday range, led by a rich, generous Shiraz and a structured Cabernet Sauvignon true to the Australian region's reputation.
