Deutz Cuvee Blanc De Blanc 2022
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Deutz Cuvee Blanc De Blanc is built from Chardonnay alone, and it shows in the wine's precision. Very pale gold in the glass, it leads with toasty aromas of fresh baked biscuit and citrus, carried on a fine, creamy mousse with real persistence. The palate is pure and elegant - lemon curd and pastry flavours held taut by bright acidity through to a long, clean finish. It's a vintage release rather than the house's non-vintage blend, and it drinks with the extra focus that implies. Pour it as an aperitif with oysters, alongside a brunch of eggs benedict or smoked salmon, or with salty, nutty cheeses like gruyère or parmesan later in the day.
What the winery says:
The unique result of a winemaking partnership started in 1988 between Montana Wines and the prestigious House of Deutz in Champagne, this Blanc de Blancs marries the best of New Zealand grapes with traditional French Champagne-making techniques. The wine displays toasty aromas of fresh baked biscuit with citrus notes, and a palate of lemon curd and pastry flavours, elegantly structured with taut acidity and a lengthy, clean finish.
