Babich Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc brings a slightly softer, fuller take on the region's famously zingy style. Passionfruit, grapefruit, mandarin and blackcurrant lead into a juicy palate layered with green tropical fruit, citrus, mineral notes and a bright lime-zest finish. It is fresh and dry, but not all sharp elbows, making it an easy pick for anyone who enjoys classic Marlborough lift with a little extra roundness. Family owned since 1916, Babich brings generations of experience to this polished, approachable bottle. Pour it with oysters, grilled fish, fresh salads or good company on a sunny afternoon.

What the winery says:

The fruit was sourced predominantly from Babich's own Marlborough estates, then crushed and pressed before fermentation in stainless-steel tanks at varying temperatures to preserve freshness and aromatic character. The finished wine offers lantana, passionfruit, grapefruit, mandarin, slate and nettle aromas, followed by blackcurrant, fruit salad, green tropical fruit and citrus flavours. Mineral and spice notes carry through the juicy finish, sharpened by a dash of lime zest. There was no malolactic fermentation, and the wine was lightly fined using plant protein before bottling.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 93 Points, Excellent (2025)
“Always a classic in my book - aromas and flavours of fresh Makrut lime and peach then red apple and tropical fruit highlights. Crisp, crunchy and dry with a salivating and saline palate, backbone of acidity and core flavours that reflect the bouquet. Delicious, fresh and ready to drink form 2025 through 2028.”

James Suckling, 91 Points (2025)
“Fruity and delicious, showing limes, papaya and sliced almonds on the nose. Medium-bodied with juicy acidity. Round with a mouthwatering finish. Sustainable.”
