Huia Pinot Gris 2024

Huia Pinot Gris is a single-vineyard Marlborough Pinot Gris with ripe orchard fruit, warm spice and a fresh, lightly textured palate. Grown in Grovetown in the Lower Wairau Valley, it combines the richness of baked and poached pear with fresh lime, lively acidity and a long, bright finish. Fermentation in stainless steel and seasoned French oak adds gentle complexity without obscuring the fruit, creating a dry, expressive style with more depth than a simple easy-drinking Pinot Gris. Pair it with seared scallops, roast pork, fragrant coconut curries or softly spiced dishes.

What the winery says:

The 2024 season began with cool, unsettled flowering conditions, resulting in small yields and concentrated fruit, followed by a long, warm and dry summer. The grapes came from well-established vines in Grovetown and were hand picked, partially destemmed and gently pressed. After cold settling, the juice was fermented in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned barriques using organic and wild yeasts. Pale lemon in colour, the wine shows baked pear, apple crumble, white blossom, grilled orange, toasted nuts and baking spices, followed by poached pear, star anise and fresh lime. Lively acidity supports a lightly textured palate and long finish.
