Babich Marlborough Pinot Gris 2025
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Babich Marlborough Pinot Gris is bright, generous and quietly polished, brining notes of pear, red apple and ripe citrus together with nectarine, persimmon and gentle spicy warmth. A little skin contact, lees work and a small barrel-fermented portion add creamy texture without dulling the fruit, so it feels satisfyingly rounded while staying fresh and easy to drink. Babich has been family owned since 1916, and this is a dependable introduction to its refined, approachable style. Pour it with crumbed snapper, baked ham and glazed kumara, or simply when a crisp white feels a touch too lean.
What the winery says:
The fruit comes from vineyards throughout Marlborough. Selected portions received 15 hours of skin contact before pressing, followed by 48 hours of lees stirring before clarification and fermentation. The wine was fermented predominantly in tank, with a small portion in barrel, using various yeasts at 8-18°C. It underwent no malolactic fermentation and matured on lees for four months. Aromas of pear, ripe citrus, red apple, florals and lime lead to fresh apple, nectarine and persimmon, with creamy texture, spice and lingering warmth.
