Decibel Testify Chardonnay 2022

Decibel Testify Chardonnay brings together the richness and freshness that Hawke's Bay Chardonnay does so well. White nectarine, charred pineapple and baked apple lead the way, backed by smoky oak, nutty complexity and an intriguing touch of miso caramel. The palate is generous and creamy without becoming heavy, thanks to bright coastal acidity and a dry, persistent finish. Winemaker Daniel Brennan's top-tier Testify range is made with ageing in mind, although this is already dangerously easy to enjoy. Pair it with roast chicken, grilled fish, creamy seafood dishes or a properly ripe wheel of brie.

What the winery says:

The 2022 release is the first Testify Chardonnay to combine fruit from coastal Te Awanga with vineyards further inland. The ocean-facing blocks provide firm acidity, while the inland vineyard and additional clone bring greater richness and a more classic Hawke's Bay character. The wine was fully barrel fermented in French oak, around 20% new, with regular lees stirring, then given additional bottle age before release. Expect white nectarine, pineapple and stewed Granny Smith apple layered with smoky oak, miso caramel and a bright, resolved line of acidity.
