McLaren Vale Shiraz
McLaren Vale sits south of Adelaide and has built its reputation on Shiraz just as firmly as Barossa Valley further north, though the two regions express the variety quite differently. Maritime breezes off the Gulf St Vincent keep McLaren Vale slightly cooler, giving wines with a distinctive dark chocolate and liquorice character alongside the region's trademark ripe, generous fruit. Old bush vines are common here too, adding depth and concentration to many of the best examples. If you'd like to compare against the country's other flagship Shiraz region, Barossa Valley Wine is worth a look. For Shiraz more broadly, Shiraz covers examples from every region we carry, and McLaren Vale Wine covers everything else on offer from the region.
