Plume By Lake Chalice Sauvignon Blanc is a sophisticated take on Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, offering considerably more depth and texture than your everyday savvy. Crafted from carefully selected fruit in the lower Wairau Valley, this beautifully layered wine combines ripe passionfruit, mango, green apple, and fresh lime with subtle oak complexity and a distinctive chalky minerality. Time in seasoned oak barrels adds richness without sacrificing the bright acidity that makes Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc so appealing. Elegant, generous, and wonderfully persistent, it's a superb choice for anyone looking to explore the variety's more refined side. Even better, this vintage claimed the Champion Sauvignon Blanc Trophy at the 2025 Global Fine Wine Challenge. Try it alongside seafood, roast chicken, or creamy pasta dishes.

What the winery says:

Sourced from selected rows in Marlborough's lower Wairau Valley, the fruit is left on the vine longer to encourage greater flavour concentration. Winemaker Chloe Gabrielsen takes a minimal-intervention approach, with partial whole-bunch pressing and fermentation using both wild and selected yeasts. The wine is matured in seasoned French and American oak barriques, bringing additional complexity and texture while allowing the fruit to remain the focus. Aromas of tropical mango, passionfruit, and green apple lead into an intense, generous palate with subtle oak influences, chalky texture, and a distinctive saline minerality. Fresh lime acidity provides balance and drives a long, persistent finish.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 94/100, Excellent (2024)
“Vibrant, bright, fruity and varietal with plenty of power and impact from the bouquet of citrus and tropical fruits, red apple and a fine lees mineral foundation. The palate reflects the bouquet with a backbone of acidity driving flavours of passionfruit and mango laced with citrus and cape gooseberry flavours. Well made, salivating and fresh with best drinking from day of purchase through 2029.”
