Barton & Guestier Reserve Rose brings an easy southern French charm to the glass, with ripe raspberry and redcurrant, a soft rose-petal lift, and a bright pink grapefruit snap through the finish. The blend of Grenache and Syrah from Pays d'Oc in Languedoc-Roussillon is crisp and just dry, staying lively rather than sugary. Barton & Guestier has been taking French wine to the wider world since 1725, and this is a particularly useful bottle for summer lunches, spicy dishes, grilled chicken, or simply a well-chilled aperitif. Fresh, friendly and very easy to like.

What the winery says:

The 2024 is made from 75% Grenache and 25% Syrah grown by certified sustainable winegrowers in Languedoc-Roussillon. A combination of saignee and pressed rose components brings together richness and freshness, with fermentation conducted at a cool 16°C to preserve aroma. The wine is then aged in vats on its lees before bottling. Expect a shiny salmon-pink colour, redcurrant, raspberry and rose aromas, followed by a crisp palate with vibrant pink grapefruit. It is suitable for vegans and is best served at 10°C to 12°C with salads, grilled meats, or spicy and exotic dishes.

What the experts say:

Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, 90 Points and 4.5 Stars (2024)
“Brightly expressed and inviting, the wine shows sweet cherry, Gala apple, and subtle spice aromas on the nose. It's juicy and finely textured in the mouth, delivering youthful fruit flavours with fine acidity, making it vibrant and delightfully drinkable.”

Cameron Douglas MS, 91 Points (2024)
“Bright, refreshing and fruity with flavours of yellow and red plums, roses and strawberry macaron. Crisp and just dry with core flavours of berries and melon repeating and framed by a gently salivating acid line and length. Well made with best drinking from day of purchase through 2027. Serve chilled.”
