Quinta do Crasto Flor de Crasto Red 2021
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Quinta do Crasto Flor de Crasto Red is the entry-level red from one of the Douro's most respected estates, a blend of Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca and Touriga Nacional grown across the Roquette family's terraced vineyards above the Douro river. Unlike Crasto's more structured, oak-aged wines, Flor de Crasto is raised entirely in stainless steel - a deliberate choice to preserve freshness and let the fruit speak for itself.
What the winery says: "Deep ruby in colour. The nose shows lovely floral notes well integrated with fresh aromas of red fruit. The palate starts with elegance, leading to a wine with good volume, fine texture and polished tannins. This is an engaging wine, with a balanced and fresh finish."
The grapes are picked into small 22kg boxes, destemmed and crushed, then fermented in stainless steel under controlled temperatures for around seven days before ageing - entirely without oak - to keep the wine's fruit and floral character intact. Vines used for this blend are between 10 and 16 years old.
