Angove Organic Chardonnay 2023
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Angove Organic Chardonnay brings a generous but fresh take on South Australian Chardonnay, layering nectarine, citrus and summer melon with a savoury touch of oak. The palate is softly rounded and textural rather than heavy, finishing clean with enough brightness to keep the next glass tempting. Fruit from certified organic vineyards in the Riverland and McLaren Vale gives this easy-going white plenty of appeal, while its vegan-friendly credentials add another reason to pop it in the basket. A smart match for grilled fish, roast chicken or creamy vegetable dishes, it is relaxed enough for midweek and polished enough for the table.
What the winery says:
The Chardonnay was sourced from certified organic vineyards in South Australia's Riverland and McLaren Vale regions. Cool, wet conditions made the 2023 season challenging, resulting in lower yields, delayed ripening and a small crop harvested from early February through to late March. The grapes were picked at night to retain freshness, then pressed, cold settled and fermented at cool temperatures with selected yeasts. Minimal handling followed before filtration and bottling. Angove describes nectarine, citrus, summer melon and savoury oak, with a pleasing texture, good length and a clean finish. The wine is certified organic, vegan friendly and made with minimal preservatives.
What the experts say:
Cameron Douglas MS, 91 Points (2023)
“A complete wine with a bouquet of fresh peaches and nectarine, there’s a hint of banana and butterscotch then baking spices of wood.”
