Te Mata Estate Pinot Noir brings a bright, generous take on Hawke's Bay Pinot Noir, led by red and black cherry, raspberry and strawberry, with clove, thyme and a savoury flick of pink peppercorn. The palate is plush and energetic rather than heavy, with smooth tannins, fresh acidity and a dry, appetising finish. Fruit comes from Te Mata's elevated Woodthorpe Terraces vineyard in the upper Dartmoor Valley. Pour it with herb-roasted duck, mushroom risotto or a relaxed Sunday lunch.

What the winery says

Estate-grown Pinot Noir was harvested from Woodthorpe Terraces on 25 and 26 February 2025. Individual lots were destemmed and cold soaked before traditional plunged fermentation, followed by extended maceration on skins. After pressing, the wines matured for 11 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barriques. The winery describes a bright ruby wine with cherry, raspberry and strawberry fruit, savoury herbs, nori and pink peppercorn, finishing long and dry. It is ready to enjoy now and can continue developing in bottle for six years from harvest.
