Thomson Explorer Pinot Noir is a certified organic Central Otago Pinot Noir with ripe blackcurrant, redcurrant and dark cherry flavours, layered with dried herbs, spice and a subtle floral lift. Generous fruit weight is balanced by fresh acidity, fine tannins and an elegant, focused shape. Made by Domaine Thomson from its Lowburn estate near Lake Dunstan, this is a polished expression of the region with plenty of character and easy appeal. Enjoy it with roast duck, mushroom risotto, lamb cutlets or a relaxed Friday night dinner.
What the winery says:
The fruit is primarily sourced from the upper terrace of Domaine Thomson's Moon Block, planted at approximately 295 metres above sea level. The grapes are 100 percent estate grown and certified organic. The wine combines lifted dried herb, spicy blackcurrant and redcurrant aromas with a focused, textural palate, good fruit weight and a fresh, poised finish. The winery recommends drinking it now or cellaring for three to five years.
