Chapoutier Cotes du Rhone Rouge 2024
Case Buys Only | 6 x 750ml
Chapoutier Cotes du Rhone Rouge brings together Grenache and Syrah in a bright, generously fruited Rhone red with plum, cherry, violet and spice at its core. Fine, lightly dusty tannins and a stony mineral note keep the palate fresh and composed, making this more than simply an easy weeknight pour. Fruit is drawn from vineyards across four Rhone departments, giving the blend plenty of regional character without losing its approachable charm. Serve it with lamb chops, beef sausages or a mushroom and lentil bake.
What the winery says:
The Grenache and Syrah come from vineyards across Drome, Vaucluse, Gard and Ardeche, including clay-limestone alluvial terraces and clay soils. The grapes are hand harvested at maturity and fully destemmed, followed by two weeks in vat to build tannic structure and stability. The wine is matured in vats before blending at the end of spring. Expect a garnet colour, aromas of Morello cherry and strawberry, complex spice and fruit, and a structured palate with firm tannins.
What the experts say:
Cameron Douglas MS, Cameron Douglas MS Wine Reviews, 90 Points, Premium (2024)
“A bright and fruity expression with classic scents and flavours of plumes and blue fruits, some cherry and violets then a stony mineral quality. Dry, fine tannins add a light dusty texture with the acid line at a medium level. Classic, balanced and well made with the voice of southern Rhone and the Chapoutier style sound and well spoken. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2030.”
