Scout Pinot Gris 2025

Scout Central Otago Pinot Gris is a rich, textural expression of Pinot Gris from a newly discovered vineyard in Bannockburn. Baked pear, ripe quince and fragrant jasmine give it generous flavour and aromatic lift, while a bright mineral line keeps the wine fresh, precise and distinctly Central Otago. Fermentation in both stainless steel and older large-format oak builds weight and complexity without adding obvious oak flavour. This is Pinot Gris with genuine substance, offering more depth than a simple fruit-driven style while remaining lively and easy to enjoy. Pair it with freshly shucked oysters, seafood, salty snacks, roast pork or creamy dishes.

The fruit came from a new vineyard for Scout in Bannockburn, Central Otago, and was hand picked when flavour, acidity and ripeness reached their ideal balance. It was gently whole bunch pressed before undergoing a slow, five-month wild fermentation in a combination of stainless steel and older large-format oak. This approach developed texture and complexity without imparting noticeable oak flavour. The cool growing season produced a richer, more substantial style, with layers of baked pear, ripe quince and jasmine carried by bright minerality and Central Otago freshness.
