Rockburn Crimson Peak Co Pinot Noir brings a generous, polished side of Central Otago Pinot Noir to the table. Ripe plum and succulent black cherry lead, with subtle oak adding shape rather than stealing the show, while the velvety texture keeps everything smooth and seamless. Made by the Rockburn team from 100% Central Otago fruit, it offers immediate appeal but has the balance to develop over the next six to eight years. A very handy bottle for duck, game meats, roasted vegetables or chargrilled octopus, and an easy choice when dinner deserves a little lift.
What the winery says:
The 2024 fruit was harvested between 14 March and 17 April. After rapid warm fermentation, the wine spent 18 to 25 days on skins before transfer to one-year-old barrels for 10 months. It was bottled on 14 July 2025 at 13.0% alcohol, with residual sugar below 1g/L. Rockburn describes ripe plum, black cherry, integrated oak and a velvety, seamless palate, and recommends enjoying it now or cellaring for six to eight years.
What the experts say:
International Wine Challenge 2026, 95/100, Gold Medal and Otago Pinot Noir Trophy (2024)
“Attractive lifted aromas of strawberry, raspberry, summer pudding, ripe plum compote, and tantalising spice. In fact, amazing spice!”
Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion, 95/100 (2024)
“Juicy raspberry fruit leads the charge here, with silty tannins and a real sense of drinking joy. It’s delicious.”
