Jacob's Creek Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon takes fruit from Coonawarra, South Australia, ages it in traditional oak, then finishes it in aged whisky barrels for extra depth. Vibrant cassis aromas lead with mint, dark olive and caramel notes, while firm tannins soften into a mid-palate of ripe cassis, olive tapenade and complex briary hints. It's a medium-bodied, approachable cabernet with real character from that second barrel - richer and smoother than a straight oak-aged style, without losing the variety's bold backbone. Best matched with roasted rack of lamb, chargrilled eggplant or another hearty dinner off the barbecue.
