Mitolo The Nessus Shiraz 2020

Mitolo The Nessus Shiraz is a ripe, generous McLaren Vale Shiraz sourced from vineyards near the coastal township of Port Willunga. Mulberry, blackberry and dark plum sit at the centre, supported by earthy complexity, graphite and a gently savoury edge. Older oak allows the fruit to remain bright and expressive, while soft, silky tannins give the medium-bodied palate an immediately approachable feel. It captures the richness expected from McLaren Vale without becoming overly heavy, making it a satisfying match for grilled beef, barbecue meats, slow-cooked lamb or a generous cheese board.

Clear medium purple in colour, the wine offers expressive aromas of blackberry, mulberry and graphite with subtle earthy undertones. The palate is fresh and fruit driven, showing vibrant blackberry and plum integrated with soft, supple tannins. The Shiraz was sourced from Mitolo vineyards at the southern end of McLaren Vale, close to Port Willunga, and matured in older oak to preserve its purity and bright fruit character. Rich black fruit, including mulberry and blackberry, is joined by rum and raisin notes before a plump, fleshy palate and spicy, meaty finish.
