Locations Italian Red is a rich, silky blend that connects the ripe fruit of southern Italy with the freshness of the north. Black cherry, fig and blueberry jam meet nutmeg, cinnamon, sandalwood and a subtle savoury note of cured meat, while soft oak and a hint of sea salt shape the long finish. Negroamaro and Nero d'Avola from Puglia bring warmth and generosity, with Barbera from Piemonte adding lift and balance. Created by Dave Phinney as an unrestricted expression of Italy rather than a single appellation, it is a generous match for beef ragù, grilled lamb, smoky sausages or aged hard cheeses.

What the winery says:

The blend combines Negroamaro and Nero d'Avola from Puglia in southern Italy with Barbera from Piemonte in the north. The winery describes aromas of black cherry, nutmeg, cinnamon and cured meat, complemented by sandalwood, vanilla, balsa and evergreen. The palate opens with a silky texture before moving into velvety fig, blueberry jam and soft oak, followed by a slowly fading finish with a touch of sea salt. The wine was matured in barrel for 10 months before release.
