The Shy Pig Merlot 2024

The Shy Pig Merlot is an easygoing South-Eastern Australian red with ripe raspberry at its core, backed by hints of chocolate and warm spice. The palate is soft and fruit-led, with a luscious mid-palate, smoothly integrated tannins and a touch of fruit sweetness that keeps everything plush and approachable. Made by Australian Vintage from Riverland fruit, it is built for relaxed drinking rather than deep contemplation. Pour it with beef meatballs, mushroom and salami pizza, or a weeknight burger when you want a friendly red that will not hog the conversation.

What the winery says:

The 2024 Merlot comes from Riverland vineyards within the South-Eastern Australia region. The fruit was crushed and fermented on oak in red fermenters at 18-22°C for five to seven days, with the cooler fermentation used to retain fruit flavour and varietal character. It was then matured in stainless steel, blended, stabilised and clarified. The finished wine is cherry red, with ripe raspberry, spice and chocolate aromas, a luscious mid-palate, well-integrated tannin and gentle fruit sweetness. Alcohol is 13%.
