Champagne Billecart-Salmon Le Reserve is the benchmark non-vintage cuvée from one of the last great family-owned Champagne houses, blending pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay - a recipe virtually unchanged since 1945. Expect a fine, persistent mousse carrying soft yellow stone fruit, strawberry and a touch of citrus, layered over a biscuity, autolytic core that gives real depth without ever feeling heavy. It finishes long, dry and precise - proof that consistency, done properly, is its own kind of achievement. Billecart-Salmon has quietly stayed independent and family-run since 1818, and it shows in the polish here. A genuinely reliable pour for any occasion that calls for bubbles.

What the winery says:

Billecart-Salmon's Brut Réserve blend has stayed essentially the same since 1945, built from pinot meunier, pinot noir and chardonnay sourced across the house's holdings in Champagne. The style is fresh and vibrant, opening with bready, biscuit-like autolysis notes alongside floral lift, a touch of pear and soft red fruit. On the palate it's creamy and generously textured, with the fruit pushed forward before a warm, toasty finish that runs long. Billecart-Salmon remains one of the few Champagne houses still owned by the founding family, a rarity the Reserve is built to showcase vintage after vintage.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 95/100 (NV)
“This is a complete wine with a wonderful aroma package including soft fragrances of yellow stone fruits, citrus, strawberry and delicate spice. The autolysis lees core is focused, biscuit-like, fresh and vibrant. An expressive mousse with a fine bubble, persistent almost crunchy mouthfeel and carrying the flavours suggest by the bouquet. Elegant, complex, youthful, vibrant and delicious. A Champagne for any occasion, dry, lengthy, complex and delicious.”
