Ripe peach and citrus sit alongside hazelnut, cream and restrained toasty oak, giving it richness without losing its gentle freshness or sense of balance. Nearly a year in French oak and full malolactic fermentation build a smooth, rounded texture, while the fruit remains clear and expressive. This is a satisfying choice for Chardonnay drinkers who enjoy a fuller, subtly nutty style, particularly alongside roast chicken, pork, creamy seafood dishes or grilled fish.

What the winery says:

The Chardonnay came from 27-year-old Mendoza and clone 15 vines at the Twin Rivers Vineyard on the Waimea Plains, planted in flat alluvial soils of gravel and silt loam. Harvested on 18 March 2023, the fruit was gently pressed and the juice settled for 24 hours before being racked to stainless steel for a cool fermentation. Near dryness, it was transferred with fine lees to Tonnelier Rousseau French oak hogsheads, including 15% new oak, to complete fermentation. Monthly lees stirring and full malolactic fermentation added texture, with the wine spending approximately one year in barrel. It shows hazelnut, peach and ripe citrus, a full body, gentle acidity and a long finish.

What the experts say:

Cameron Douglas MS, 92/100, Premium (2023 Vintage)
"A distinctive bouquet of peaches and cream, apricots and vanilla, whipped cream and a light toasty wood complexity."
